Also, I love the idea of everyone literally breathing the same breath!Foxyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11590401904871006467noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2965370542440002490.post-77102140575245698042010-10-07T22:10:07.682-03:002010-10-07T22:10:07.682-03:00What a great article...love David Suzuki! What a great article...love David Suzuki!gillianbhttp://www.nurturedbliss.blogspot.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2965370542440002490.post-85259098077100909852010-10-06T17:35:08.038-03:002010-10-06T17:35:08.038-03:00This is fabulous and so informative. I really think you'd like "A Sacred Balance" best :) I'm not sure about that article, he's written so much, but you may be able to find something similar on his website www.davidsuzuki.org

@La Gitane: good idea! I'd love to write a post about the cotton industry with more details and stuff. Thanks for the idea!! Actually, what I should do is write as post asking for ideas on what people want to know about. I'm kinda running a bit low on inspiration :)

@Julia: haha, thank you! some of these posts take FOREVER to write, and I usually try my best to reference where i get my info... but i'd really like to do even better.
Margaret Atwood has spoken out quite a bit about climate change, especially in the past few years. I hear her mentioned now and again- but in Canadian media. I love her intro to the book :)

@Rachel: thank you!! isn't funny how one element resonates more with some of us? I wouldn't know how to make the time/ where to look for that.
Also you referenced margaret Atwood recently. Is she known as a vocal environmentalist in Canada? She is only known for her fiction here so I was weirded out when I read a book on simple living recently that referenced/quoted her in every chapterColor Me Greenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00570876113939066775noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2965370542440002490.post-70489145410241265892010-10-04T22:36:36.282-03:002010-10-04T22:36:36.282-03:00I heart David Suzuki!! You say that cotton is the most "energy intensive" crop on the planet - what exactly does that mean? And why is organic cotton less "energy intensive"? I understand that organic wouldn't use chemical fertilizers etc but not sure how it would use less energy?

Anyway it would be interesting to hear more!!

PS - I also heart Captain Planet! I've been wanting to read David Suzuki for some time now, and this series of yours will give me a little introduction.

I once read a Suzuki article in which he showed how our bodies are one and the same as the five elements, not just metaphorically, but physically. It was startlingly like the ancient yoga texts, which everyone is anxious to turn into metaphor.

I've tried to go back and find that article so I could blog about it, but I've been unable to find it. If it rings a bell with you, please let me know. Otherwise, I'm sure it will turn up as I get into Suzuki.

Thanks for this blog.

Bob Weisenberg
YogaDemystified.comBob Weisenberghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01442738029941563325noreply@blogger.com
